Report: Hackers Targeted Google's Password System

Computer hackers stole a program that controlled access to most of Google Inc.'s services when they attacked the Internet giant late last year, according to a New York Times report. A spokeswoman reiterated Google's previous assertions that the attacks on the company didn't obtain any personal information from its users' e-mail accounts.

Ash-Stranded Travelers Hopeful As Flights Resume

But Europe's busiest airport, Heathrow in London, remained closed because shifty north winds were pushing the volcanic ash cloud back over Britain. The Eurocontrol air traffic agency in Brussels said it expects some 55 to 60 percent of flights over Europe to go ahead Tuesday, a marked improvement over the past few days.

Suspicions Hamper U.S. Access To Kyrgyzstan Air Base

The Obama administration has been reaching out to the new interim government in Kyrgyzstan, in hopes that the U.S. will continue the use of an air base there to supply troops in Afghanistan. But the opposition leaders now in power in Kyrgyzstan complain that their ousted president's son was enriching himself from contracts at the airbase. The U.S. says it will review the contracts, but the same allegations of cronyism occurred the last time there was an uprising in Kyrgyzstan.
